Purple Jeans

So the big news yesterday was that Gail and some of her cohort went on a drive-along with some Belfast cops.  They were gone for hours, got a little tour of a water cannon and then went and dropped in on the Orange Parade that was going on yesterday.  Gail had a great time and [...]

Monday Night @ Madden’s

Today I didn’t do a whole lot of note.  I made a big bowl of oatmeal, wrote and mailed some postcards, wrote a report for Comhaltas, and then went out and browsed some bookstores, but didn’t buy anything.  I met Gail on Botanic after she was done with classes.   Then, we went and got [...]

Sunday Night &C.

After yesterday’s sojourn around the north coast, we spent most of today just relaxing.  Watched some Gaelic Football, made meals and stuff.   Then, around 8:30 we headed over to Madden’s for the session. Now, tonight was the second time we’ve been to Madden’s–we were there on Friday, and since I didn’t post on Friday I [...]

June 23rd

So, today Gail got home from class and we went shopping at the Teisco, the butcher, and the fruit/vegetable stand.  We now have food for a few days.  (Although they were very different from the sausages we were eating in Vienna a couple of weeks ago, we had steak & pepper sausages from the butcher [...]

Photos!

Yesterday was Gail’s first day of classes.  She’s taking “Conflict Resolution” and “International Organizations.” I asked how she feels about them and she’s said “Good…just getting into it.” I met some of her teachers the other night at the reception and they all seem nice.  BTW, the program has all sorts of extracurriculars planned and [...]

Hello from Belfast!

Hello families! We arrived in Belfast around 7:30am local time yesterday (which I guess is around 2:30am est). Both of us slept on the flight, although she more than I. We found the bus to Belfast with no trouble and slept there as well. (The bus, as it turns out, is a very nice way [...]
